IMAGINARY DIARY

Once upon a time, there was a little house where a girl lived. One morning, Emily woke up feeling sleepy because she had difficulty in waking up early. She slowly got out of bed and went to the kitchen to make extraordinary breakfast. Apart from tasty breakfast, she realized she needed to get dressed for the day due to the school. Emily reluctantly left the stood up and picked out her fancy clothes. Before leaving, she made sure to lock the door securely. Then, Emily remembered she needed to shine her shoes, so she quickly did that before heading out. As she stepped onto the sidewalk, she took a deep breath of fresh air. It felt refreshing on her face. Emily decided to take a taxi to arrive the school in time because he missed the bus. Although she always got up early and leave bed quickly, she didn’t catch the school bus at the bus station. Along the way, she enjoyed the view of the city passing by. Also, she thought about her crucial English exam during the journey. She was good at English but she couldn’t get high mark from the exam so far. After she got to her class, she checked her pencil case one last time before taking the exam. Her teacher saw her being late and said “It is now or never” do your best. After the time was over, her teacher appreciated her and picked the paper. In contrast to this, Emily was unhappy because she didn’t reach last question. She ran home by crying, and her friends who saw this laughed her  brutally.


Bir zamanlar, bir kızın yaşadığı küçük bir ev varmış. Bir sabah Emily uykulu bir şekilde uyandı çünkü erken uyanmakta zorluk çekiyordu. Yavaşça yataktan kalktı ve olağanüstü bir kahvaltı hazırlamak için mutfağa gitti. Lezzetli bir kahvaltının yanı sıra, okul nedeniyle günlük giyinmesi gerektiğini fark etti. Emily isteksizce ayağa kalktı ve şık kıyafetlerini seçti. Ayrılmadan önce kapıyı güvenli bir şekilde kilitlediğinden emin oldu. Sonra Emily ayakkabılarını parlatması gerektiğini hatırladı ve bunu dışarı çıkmadan önce hemen yaptı. Kaldırıma adım attığında derin bir nefes almış, temiz hava almış. Yüzünde ferahlık hissetti. Emily otobüsü kaçırdığı için okula zamanında varmak için taksiye binmeye karar verdi. Her zaman erken kalkıp hızla yataktan kalkmasına rağmen otobüs durağındaki okul otobüsüne yetişemedi. Yol boyunca geçerken şehrin manzarasının tadını çıkardı. Ayrıca yolculuk sırasında çok önemli olan İngilizce sınavını da düşündü. İngilizcesi iyiydi ama şimdiye kadar sınavdan yüksek not alamamıştı. Sınıfına vardıktan sonra sınava girmeden önce son kez kalem kutusunu kontrol etti. Öğretmeni onun geç kaldığını gördü ve “Ya şimdi ya asla” elinizden geleni yapın dedi. Süre bittikten sonra öğretmeni onu takdir etti ve kağıdı aldı. Buna karşın, Emily son soruya yetişemediği için mutsuzdu. Ağlayarak eve koştu ve bunu gören arkadaşları ona acımasızca güldüler.

 27- How do you handle difficult English words or phrases that you come across in your reading or listening? In Reading and Listening, I usually first draft a sentence with the words I know, but this draft exists only in my mind. Then, if I'm stuck on some words, I try to understand what they mean.
